Hey everyone,

I'm upgrading my gaming PC and I need a recommendation for the motherboard. It's a gaming PC, will use my current GPU (Asus TUF RTX 3080), but will be changing CPU, motherboard, RAM, cooler and case. I already bought a cooler - Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120SE CPU Air Cooler and for RAM, I'm planning to get Kingston FURY Beast Black 64GB (2x32GB) 5200MT or Kingston Fury Beast 64GB (2x32GB) 6000MT, but it costs extra $50, so probably will go with first option, don't think it will give me too much difference in performance for extra $50. CPU will be definitely Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF and about motherboard, I'm torn between too many options and need help to choose the good one. It must be Z890 chipset for sure. I don't want anything way too expensive, but I don't want too weak motherboard for this CPU either. Few motherboards I'm considering right now are:
  • GIGABYTE Z890M Gaming X Ultra Core - $150 (price seems perfect, but will it be a good motherboard for that CPU?)
  • ASRock Z890 Pro-A - $190 (price still not bad)
  • GIGABYTE Z890 Gaming X WIFI7 - $200 (price still not bad)
  • ASUS TUF Gaming Z890-PLUS WiFi - $283 (expensive for my budget, not sure if I want to spend that much money. Is it worth it?)
Any other recommendations? Basically I'm looking for a decent MB which is balanced in price and performance.

The sweet spot DDR5 platforms is DDR5-6000MHz or slightly higher and you should look at tight latencied dual stick kits. As for the motherboard, either board will get the job done for the Ultra 7 you've picked out.

To clarify, what are you looking for in your motherboard purchase? If you're looking at a beefy VRM design, the mATX board has half the design of what the ATX boards have. ASRock is goo as the entry level board with their VRM design, while the Asus boards is the only board out of the lineup with a good audio solution.

Ok, few things to clarify: I'll be doing only gaming on this PC and I also use it as a Plex server for my huge movie collections that streams through my TV.

I'm looking for good VRM design so it doesn't throttle that CPU and that it delivers enough and stable power to CPU or any components. Audio isn't important for me at all. Board should have at least 2 SATA ports for my HDDs, but I guess all boards minimum 2 SATA ports. If any board from my list seems fine, then I guess I'll go with the cheapest one - GIGABYTE Z890M Gaming X Ultra Core. Just want to make sure by asking others if that board is fine and won't throttle that CPU.

About RAM. Okay, noted. So, shall I get these ones instead?

Actually I found a best deal on Amazon. This combo of CPU and MB looks perfect with price. I'll put this one in my shoplist.
