I need to create a hard copy of a number on a very frequent basis, and we want to use a printer that uses a roll of paper like a calculator that spools onto another reel. I have seen this on cash registers. I need it to be usb or seriel controlled.

So you don't actually want a print-out, you want it to print, and then get rolled up to another roll? Or do you need a thermal printer and you are talking about the thermal paper that gets rolled up to a "used" roll as it prints?

Not sure I can picture what you are trying to do. What size paper are you looking to print this on? I'm sure you can find something like this, but it would be pricey.

That is what I want, receipt roll sized paper is fine.

I had 2 options there, which were you looking for? I don't know if you can wind the print-out on an inside roller, as you'd have to pass through the printhead which will end up outside the printer. Then you'd need to run the print-out back inside the printer and around a second roller. Which may be doable just not easily, you may need to cut into the top of the cover.

Zebra is pretty much a standard in these types of printers, check out their offerings. www.zebra.com
