Need a sound card for my new Edifire S550 Encore

i need to upgrade my soundcard as my onboard sound card (asus X99-a)
i really confused from asus (DGX-DX_DSX)
& it worth upgrade to external sound card as its my 1st time to buy an external sound card
& which one is better for my setup 5.1

there is no way you can compare external audio card to onboard speaking of mine realtek i think there will a noticeable difference between them

i have tried external cards on most of my computers with high end speakers and sound systems. on any gaming motherboard i couldn't tell any difference between the sound quality. the only computers i would put a sound card are very low end desktops or server grade hardware
