need a soundcard compatible with a HP Cpmpaq 8000 elite

I recently noticed that the sound volume was very low on my HP Compaq 8000 elite. Upon further investigation and after trying several different powered speakers I discovered that my internal sound card wasn't working and I was only getting sound out of the internal speaker. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something inexpensive and sound that is loud enough to hear. Any suggestions?

Ok, I bought a Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Digital SB0100 PCI Sound Card on eBay and that was a bust. Win7 woun't recognize it and can't find a driver that will work with it. Any other suggestions?
