Question Need a way for a Verbatim Blu-ray disc on a LG Blu-ray writer (WH16NS40) to write at maximum speed of 16x ?

The LG 16x Blu-ray writer WH16NS40 I bought a couple of years ago use firmware version 1.03. For a couple of years, I use single-layer data blu-ray discs writing at a slow 8x speed. I recently bought a 50-pack of Verbatim single-layer 25GB Blu-ray discs that can write at up to 16x, and it's the only brand in the market that can write 16x blu-ray discs. I use Cyberlink Power2Go11 to write data to DVDs and Blu-rays.

However, when I inserted that new writable blu-ray, the program will only allow up to 12x maximum speed, not 16x!! What gives in to the restriction? Do I need a different type of software to make writing at least 16x possible, or the worst case scenario is to roll back the firmware one version to make 16x blu-ray writing possible (along with 4K movie viewing compatibility)? I really don't want to roll back the firmware as it's difficult to do so and it needs to be done in Windows 7 32-bit OS.

Did the old firmware work at 16x speeds? Does not sound like you ever used that speed, so thinking the firmware change can do it is a bit faulty.

Other software, sure that may help, Nero is good but can be expensive.

Could also be an issue of those disks.

Really I would stick with the slower speed, over the years I have learned that the faster the media is written the more chances there are of errors during play back. Last time I burned disks I was using 4x speeds pretty much 100% of the time to maintain good compatibility when playing them back.

Well using ImgBurn, this is what the device info said, despite supporting a max read and write speed of a single-layer BD-R at 12x. I could try forcing a 16x speed, but I don't think the hardware will allow it.

I use cdburnerxp, im able to force burns at different speeds only did it once, but it was at a lower speed. might be worth trying. but dont do a bunch like that, do one and test the disc out and make sure the burn was good/data is fine, and if all si well then do all of them like that.

Have you tried forcing a 16x burn? I'm curious as to the result.
I tried forcing burning 12x on an older 8x BR-disc using IMGBurn, the hardware won't allow it as it sticks to 8x burning. For 16x, I don't think it's possible unless I roll back the firmware one version below for that hardware.
