Need Advice $600 - $800 Gaming

Hello All! I came here just for some help, and addvice on this system i will be building. It is going to be a gaming computer but i will not need a GPU right away i have a spa re and i will be using that till i can afford a really nice one


Approximate Purchase Date: Any time Before Christmas

Budget Range: $650 - $750 Could go up to $800 i think.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming/Movies

Parts Not Required: Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, OS, Speakers, GPU - but will buy one later on

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: MSY because its just up the road

Country of Origin: Australia, Vic

Parts Preferences: by brand or type: Don't Mind

Overclocking: Maybe but i dont think my cpu can

SLI or Crossfire: Yes but not straight away

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

I havent decided on a case yet but the ones im looking at are around $100


I don' need a GPU right away because i got a spare but i will be getting one later on that i will CrossFire or SLi depending on what i get. Any suggestion on a GPU around $150 tp $200 would be nice.

always buy the fastest single gpu you can afford first, then later crossfire or sli it if you wish when prices drop. I would probably try to go for a 6950, they arent that much more expensive. And FYI, that asus motherboard is crap for Crossfire and doesnt support SLI at all. avoid so called "crossfire" boards where the second slot is a 4x speed slot, it will cause issues and increased stuttering. http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=8247 < that is a MUCH better board and is cheaper and has 8x/8x slots for crossfire and SLI. I would also totally forget the SSD and just invest more into a better vid card. You will need a hell of a lot more than 64GB for your hard drive anyway. i dont see the point of less than 250mb for a primary...

Yes and no, they scale very well... but are likely to cause microstuttering. Here is an article explaining what microstuttering is. Some people do not notice this, some people do.

I see but isnt that article talking about the 6870 not the 6850 or are there pretty much the same. I saw that the SLI went better with microstuttering but lower average fps maybe i could do 460 SLI. Or i could just save up and get i really nice $350 to $450 GPU

and Could you please give me some feedback on my build.

Thanks for showing me that mobo i will be using that one now and i will take your advice on the GPU ill try and afford the best single one i can.
With the SSD i was only planning on using it for the OS and some programs. I have plenty of space for games and movies on my currents computers HDD that i will will put in the one im building.

Thanks for the feedback and build with the build you suggested008Rohit im shopping at msy and they dont seem to sell the case or PSU. And with the Storage i was planning on getting a SSD for a really fast boot time and some programs on it. i already have enough storage for games and movies.

Sorry to say but i think the HAF 922 looks a little ugly anything prettier.

I like the storm scout, you can pick it up and throw it at someone and from my experience it has great airflow, is easy to clean, and install basically any config you want and it fits the largest air-coolers, also I feel that 120 or 140mm fans are the optimal size in most situations

my second choice would be the Antec 900

OCZ makes quality PSUs. Read the reviews at hardwaresecrets. Thats why I recommended it over the Antec unit.

For the SSD I recommend Crucial M4 or Corsair Force Series. Both SATA III. 64GB is enough for OS and important apps.

Didn't you like the Rosewill Challenger?
