Hi !

I would like to get comments or advice on my next build. It will be used as a gaming pc at 1440p 144hz mostly.

I want to buy :

CPU : i5-6600k (going to overclock as high and stable as I can)
CPU cooler : Corsair H105
Motherboard : Asus Z170-A
Case : Fractal Design Define R5 (might add fans to the case, depending on temps)
Memory : G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3200 14-14-14-34
Power supply : EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G2 Modular 1000W Power Supply (SLI futureproof)

Already have :

SSD : Samsung evo 840 256gb
HDD : 4tb
Monitor : Benq XL2730z 1440p 144hz
GPU : EVGA GTX 1070 SC

If you suggest something else, I would like the price to be worth it :)

Thank you !

for SLI, you'd want an i7.
i like most of the build except the cooler. EK Predator is 150$ Swiftech H220 is 110$ - they are way better than this crap made by asetek.
Basically, I'd get a normal 650w PSU like G2, P2, RM650x, i7-6700K and may be GTX 1080.
Also, if you don't use the optical drive, Fractal Design Define S is better choice - cleaner with better airflow.

Thanks for the reply !

I don't understand why you don't like the Corsair H105. It is the best rated 240mm on newegg and has very good cooling on the benchmarks I checked. I could not find any benchmarks of i5-6600k vs i7-6700k in SLI, do you know any ? I might not go SLI at all if I need a 6700k. The Define S has better airflow because it doesn't have the cage for the optical drive ?

I might change the cpu cooler to a Noctua NH-D15, so I can keep the top vents closed.

I'm afraid my friend that the top can not stay closed.
to keep the temperature in check, you need at least 2 intake and 2 exhaust fans.
the later happens to be at the rear and top.
It's not that i don't like the H105, it's just there are way better things at the same price range. You can go for it and it will be fine. it's just you are going to buy this funny toy : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPIhvfal12g with that crappy pump. Corsair, EVGA, NZXT and other are branding crap made by asetek and coolit. that's it.
kits I mentioned are made of custom loop components that are better at cooling and have much longer lifespan.
not to mention that those kits can be expanded, you can replace any part you want (for example to use clear tubing). It like comparing hyundai to bentley .
