Hello, I recently purchased a brand new HP Pavilion HPE h8-1234 Desktop PC

Motherboard- M3970AM-HP
Processor- AMD FX-6120
Ram- 10 GB

I'm an average gamer, I play Diablo 3, Skyrim, Mass Effect 3 and plan on buying other games. The current graphics in the model is a Radeon HD 7450. I'm looking to upgrade this to a better card. I already replaced the PSU model Internal ATX 300W (100v-240v) with a Thermaltake TR-600 TR2 ATX Power Supply - 600W

Basically I'm asking is there a better card out there that can run with 600W that will run current games smoothly and doesn't go over $320 ish?

Thank you guys.

Thank you for the input guys.
Will my chassis be able to fit other cards? Since higher end cards tend to be beefier. It's only medium size ish.

Hey I just bought the same exact PC and am looking to upgrade as well.. Just seeing if you've upgraded yet or not and how it went for you.

I will go for that same PSU you installed since it worked for you, but I'm mainly concerned about the graphics card you selected. Like you said, I'm not sure if these new ones are too beefy (specifically i was looking at EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti).

Hopefully you're still watching this post, thanks!

Oh nice! Yeah the PSU is pretty nice for the money I think.

I haven't bought the GPU yet but I did some measuring and it's about 10.5 inches long. Make sure you have enough space in your Chassis and that it doesn't conflict with anything else on the MOBO. I measured it and it looks like it will fit, hopefully all goes well.
I'm thinking about getting a Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870 and that card is massive. I'll let you know how it went mate. Good luck. ;)

LOL I was actually looking at benchmarks all afternoon and decided on the Radeon HD 7870 as well!

EDIT: I accidentally posted a link to a 7850. whoops!

I am going to purchase the HP H8 1234 PC soon as well. I have an Antec HCG 620w PSU(89.00 from Newegg) and a NVidia GTX 550ti Vid card(110.00 from Best Buy) that I plan on swapping over from my old PC. I hope they fit! Decent upgrades for cheap! With the 6core processor and 10gigs of RAM, the 7200 rpm Terabyte hard drive I should be in good gaming shape for a few years....I hope! lol Things change sooooo fast! SWTOR and DDO are what I play these days. btw.

I hate to bring up an old topic but I have the same model computer as the OP. I am upgrading my PSU with a Thermaltake but for some reason both PSU's I have tried will not boot the computer. I have tried the 750 and 850W Smart Series and neither is working. The computer flickers for a half second and then goes off.

My hp-1234 is having the exact same issue upgrading to a Corsair TX650. Ended up here searching for fixes. PSU passed the paperclip test, and everything works fine with stock unit. Anyone more knowledgeable than I have ideas?

(Also weighing in... I'm going with the gtx 560ti-448. Plenty of oomph for my needs without breaking the bank. )

I have the same issue. I have not been able to find a power supply that will work with it. I found some random forum where a guy mentioned this is an issue with hp machines, but no real details. Has anyone found a compatible PSU?

I installed an MSi R7950 twin frozr and used a ModXStream-Pro 600w PSU.. I've had no problems and great performance thus far.
