I just ordered a Trendnet AC1900 to replace my antiquated Linksys BEFSR41 wired router which is currently mounted to my garage wall (where my cable & satellite lines come in).
On the WAN port the BEFSR41 connects to my modem (Optimum). Of the four LAN ports only one is in use. It is connected to my Trendnet 8-port Gigabit switch (which is mounted right next to it). That switch feeds my entire network.
Inside my home I have three WAPs (one for each floor because my WiFi thermostats experience connectivity issues otherwise). The three WAPs are Linksys WRT54Gs and are configured with static IP addresses and act as bridges (with DHCP disabled) to the BEFSR41 (which assigns all dynamic IP addresses) in my garage. Other devices (TVs, an Xbox One, an Onkyo Receiver, and a PC) also connect to the WRT54Gs with hard lines.
My questions about the new AC1900 are as follows:
1) I need suggestions on how to mount it since it isn't designed with mounting holes like the four Trendnet switches I have in my house are. I've watched some DIY videos so I do have some ideas...I'm just wondering if there's a method I haven't seen yet or thought of yet.
2) Since it's a powerful wireless router, will it play nice with my three WRT54Gs? I like the idea of having something as powerful as the AC1900 in my garage because I will get better reception on my mobile devices when outdoors.
