Need advice for new monitor

I'm in the market for a new monitor and somewhat bewildered by the massive choices available. I'm looking for a 23" or larger full hd screen for gaming, movies and video/photo editing. My budget is up to £250, I'd appreciate any suggestions, a lot of reviews seem to suggest the samsung syncmaster xl2370 but it seems quite an old screen for the price and I'm wondering if there's anything newer and better. Thanks!

Dell U2311H is an e-IPS screen that could be available in that price range.
