So I recently thought my motherboard blew out, but I was being a dummy and using the wrong cable for my new 27" Qnix monitor. I plugged in the right cable and boom system fired up.

Current System:
CPU: i7 970
RAM: 6GB Corsair Hyper X Ram
Mobo: Asus P6X58D-E
GPU: MSI 7950 3GB

PURCHASED System:

CPU:Intel Core i5-4670K Haswell 3.4GHz LGA 1150 84W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics BX80646I54670K
MOBO: BIOSTAR Hi-Fi Z87X 3D LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-2133C9D-8GXL $69.99

Total Amount: 388.97

I am not sure what I should do....is it worth keeping the new system? Will I have any performance gains? I use this primarily for gaming 2560x1440 60hz. CSGO, Civ 5, TL2,etc.

I can sell my i7-970 for at least 250 dollars, the motherboard for ~150, and ram who knows. So it will nearly be a wash if I keep the new system and sell the old.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Yes. The 4670k is better. Also, if you are only using integrated graphics, the 4670k has far better integrated graphics than the 970.

Thank you for the reply. I am not using integrated graphics. I am using MSI 7950 Twin Frozr. Do you still think it will be better?

Yes. The 4670k is 3 generations ahead of the 970 and overall does much better in gaming. It's also very easily overclocked. Also the LGA 1150 socket with that motherboard is more future proof than the LGA 1366. I would get more opinions on this than just mine but I am 100% certain you should go with the 4670k.
