Windows Server 2003 And Windows 7

any incompatibilities with my parts?
Would you change anything with this set up?

Solution
^+1 for the PSU and Nvidia card...though for gaming, I still would prefer ATI, but the CUDA feature from Nvidia will certainly benefit the apps that you will be using...and you can see a great reduction in processing time...

As for the RAM, if you are planning for high overclock, then those RAM kits are fine...as the higher speeds will allow you to reach higher clock speeds easy...
But I would suggest a kit like this...
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 12GB (3 x 4GB)

Yes a 12GB kit with 3 sticks...
Reason:
- More the RAM, the better for rendering and Photoshop...
- You will not be able to set high speeds on memories if you plan to populate all the 6 slots to get 12GB...
- Having 3...

- Having 3 slots free would allow for future memory upgrades...

And as for the build, some changes...

1. Mobo - The mobo is a good one, but I am sure you will not use its added features... Reason - Why would you need 4 PCIe slots running @ x16 when you will be running a HD 5970 ??
My choice would be this one...
ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 - A very good mobo with lots of feature and also SATA 6GB/s and USB 3.0
PSU - Corsair 850HX - Will allow for another graphics card...

CPU + GPU - GTX 470
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.425551

CPU Cooler - IMO a equally good one for nearly half...and comes with a fan too...
Scythe Mugen Rev.B
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185142

SSD - For such a budget, no SSD ??
OCZ Agility 2 60GB

DVD

BD Combo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151199

CASE - Maybe the new HAF X ??

Solution
^ GTX 470 is a better value...
And if you are planning for 2 cards and also will overclock, then you might want to check out the new cards(GF104) that Nvidia will be launching by Mid-July...those are supposed to be very efficient than the GF100 chips and will have good overclocking headroom...

I wouldn't get 470 sli at the start. It removes your upgrade path, you can bump up performanceby 45percent max when you add your third 470. If a 470 isn't enough for you I'd opt for a 480. 480s have the best upgrade path on the market.
