Need advice on a Ryzen 3 build

Hi folks.

If you were to build a PC around a Ryzen5 CPU, what parts would you select?

Yeah, I'm asking a lot, but I'm overwhelmed. In the past, I have slapped together a few variations of a Windows (7) PC, the latest with an old duo-core CPU. (ancient it is). I'm a graphic designer working mostly in layout (InDesign), Web Dev, Photoshop and some Sketchup. I'm not a gamer and Sketchup is about the limit of my 3D needs. You get the picture, I don't need superfast but a good amount of memory might be useful.

I've heard good things about the Ryzen stuff but I would certainly be willing to buy a different processor like an Intel or other AMD if the cost benefit ratio is better now and will carry me for a few years. So, at this point, I'm asking if someone could make some specific suggestions for mobo/cpu combo that will fit in a mid sized box> Ideally, I want to retrofit or copy the content of a couple older hard drives (IDE I think) and I have an old video card (ATI FireGL V3600) although I bet some mobos have better integrated graphics than this card.

I want to try and do this for less than 500 bucks. Am I asking too much? Below are the parts I'll need.

    A box
Mother board that supports 2 monitors
    CPU
    Memory 16 gigs or better
    Power supply
    Anything else

As I said, I'm overwhelmed and not to technically savvy. Knowing my parameters and my meager $500 budget, could you quickly suggest some parts or a mobo combo that you like? Feel free to add some links or make fun of me.

Thank you so much!

Greg

If you still have a good sata hdd and really are looking at Ryzen could you get the next under budget,

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1400 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($165.88 @ OutletPC)

Total: $499.73...

As stated, my budget is around $500 and I'm seeing Ryzen 5's for about $250. Just put together a quick configuration on Newegg (see screenshot) without case, is around $560. Does that look like a reasonable setup for my needs, anything you would change out?

Thanks srimasis!

You are welcome mate. The problem with Ryzen cpu is you will need a separate Graphics card since Ryzen CPUs don't have integrated GPU. That will shoot your budget towards 600-700$ range. What you exactly need is a PC which never slows even with 16 chrome tabs open and also renders 3d graphics better than your current GPU. Here is the build I have for you.

Install windows 10 by directly downloading it from Microsoft's website. It will be a trial version but Microsoft allows you to run it as long as you want. In future, you can buy windows 10 license key for 99$ from Microsoft or OEM windows keys for as low as 15$. Also when you build your system, turn on Momentum Cache in the SSD driver tools and you will get speeds of 2000MBps instead of 500MBps, and momentum cache will also prolong your SSD life.

For what do you want 16gb of ram btw?

If you can live with 8gb of ram could you get a decent hdd in,
