Need Advice On Analog Cables For My Sound Blaster Card

Hey folks,

I've recently built a new PC and had a little trouble with the sound card and speakers.

I've been using an optical cable to connect to the PC with my Logitech Z906 speakers. There are some documented issues with this (I only found out today) so I need some analog cables.

Problem is, I don't know which ones to get. I'm completely clueless when it comes to sound setups. I have a Sound Blaster X AE-5 sound card and the speakers I mentioned above.

I think I need 3, is that right? Left, right and subwoofer? There seems to be that many slots for analog on each device.

So anyway, can someone give me some advice on which are good cables?

Cheers.

From your Soundbalster card you have 3.5mm sockets and on the Z906 you also have 6channel direct (3.5mm).

So you can either buy a 6 channel direct cable (3.3mm plugs) or buy 3 audio 3.5mm leads. The 6 channel cable is really 3 singles tied together and looks neat. Other than that not much difference.

I am assuming that you have the manuals and can identify the sockets.

Go to a hifi shop and they will try to sell you expensive shielded cables, honest truth is that it will not make difference if you have a short length.

I had to check online for the manuals as the speakers I've had ages and the sound card came with a PC I ordered. I can identify the sockets easily enough, was just wondering if some cables are better than others.

I can't seem to find 6 channel cables on EBuyer or OCUK. So I assume 3 of these will be fine? https://www.ebuyer.com/266498-startech-com-6-ft-slim-3-5mm-stereo-audio-cable-m-m-mu6mms
