Need advice on applying paint/coat to chassis/cases

■What material case is best for spray paint jobs? I'm thinking aluminium/metal but cases come in a variety of materials...
■Is sanding required to remove the existing layer of paint, or create a surface that the new layer of paint can adhere to?
■If yes to (2), what grit number do I use?
■Is it necessary to get all the original coat off?
■Do I need primer? What type? "Etch" primer is supposed to be on bare metal, what if I'm painting over the case's original layer of paint?
■Do I need a finishing or protective coat? What type?
■How can I be sure the paint coat won't peel and is scratch-resistant?
■Commercial powder painting under nozzled pressure versus spray paint can?
■Where can I find an accessible tracing/cutting machine for stencil art? (I was thinking to use masking sheet but a pattern could be better cut using machines than by hand?) I don't have access to industrial equipment...
    ■Any rookie advice?
■Any other tips, common mistakes to avoid?

U can sand if u want but make sure the grit u using is really fine like eg 200... But use 100 first to remove old one faster.... Yes apply primer do everything like u doing a regular paint job.... Have fun
