I have a HP p2-1394 that I got a while back and its starting to slow down. It's completly stock (Havent even opened it) I dont have the money for a completly new build so I'd like some advice on the best way to upgrade it with ~200 dollars. Im pretty sure a new motherboard and psu is a given. I'm not sure if there is any hope or if this is pointless ambition. Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't think investing any money in the PC is a good idea. Aside from potential issues caused by proprietary parts and that you will need a new OS, the hardware is rather dated. Better to think of the money you would have spent on upgrades as a discount on a new build. You can begin purchasing parts as finances allow. $200.00 can easily get the CPU, motherboard and RAM, plus you can re use the HDD. This would leave you with needing the case, , GPU, PSU and OS.

A decent budget office/mid level gaming rig would look something like this:

Save the GPU for last, the HD 530 graphics are capable of light gaming and new cards are soon to be released.
