I'm looking at upgrading my computer. It's about a 5 year old i5 3570k Has ran like a champ but it's starting to show it's age. I have a 1060 6GB card in it that I can reuse as well as the hard drive and DVD Drive. What I'm looking at wanting is a Ryzen 5 2600. Not looking to OC at this current time. I'd like to get 16gigs of RAM. I'm no good at picking out motherboards. What I'm really looking at needing at this current time is:

-Processor
-MOBO
-RAM
-Case
-Power Supply

If possible a SSD would be great but I'm only looking at being able to afford 400-500 right now so I'm not sure that would play out. My monitor is 1080 and I'm find keeping it around, it's a great monitor. Have windows 10 already and mouse and keyboard. Just looking at the above for what I need right now. My GPU is one of the small ones so it's not a huge honking monster sized card thankfully. I'd love to get a modular power supply as I've never been able to get one yet. Any help at the current time is greatly appreciated. I've only ever ordered from Newegg in the past and have had no issues with them. I'd like to order this week if everything works out. Thank you!

Edit: Forgot to add I like to game on my computer. Assassins Creed, Ark, WoW once in a while, BDO, etc.

If the release is 6-10 months away? Upgrade now.

Ryzen 3000 series announcement is on Jan 2019 in CES. I expect April March for widespread availability of 3600/3700X and X570 mobo... Or we will at least get to the launch time period in the CES announcement.

So yeah, I would suggest waiting.

Dude, Intel doesn't have any new cpu announcements in CES. It's literally 2 weeks from now where we will get 100% reliable info directly from amd about specifications, launch dates and availability.

That's not worth the 2 weeks wait? Moreover, he can purchase everything other than just the cpu and mobo now if he wants.

I can understand waiting two weeks, but even then. The end user could have his new system built and playing the game that he's getting inadequate performance on now. Most people don't care about future hardware. They just want to play their games and existing hardware will
be more than enough to do exactly that.

I would actually accept with that statement. But why this update is significant?

Ryzen is just shy of pushing 120+ fps in the latest games. It gives somewhere between 95-110fps while Intel when oc'ed to 5ghz manages 130s.

With the 7nm shrink, faster clocks should be expected along with the customary IPC improvements. See why this is so crucial now? It's been Intel all the way for 144hz gaming...

Now if ryzen also gives 120+ fps in a 144hz screen, Intel or amd, you can't go wrong. That's when true competition starts in the enthusiast range.

I'd like to believe it, however that hasn't yet been proven. Purely speculation. I don't care what you say about the future hardware until I actually see the benchmarks. If i had a dollar for every time a hardware manufacturer said one thing and didn't deliver, well...you know the rest. I can believe the core count per dollar but i'm a bit skeptical on the frequency boosts, given AMD's track record. I'd like for you to say "I told you so" in the near future.
