Hello,

I'm trying to build a new energy efficient gaming pc. My budget is $600 (I already have HD7950 OC, 600w power supply, and nice coller master case) I'm thinking about buying I7 4790s gpu and z97 motherboard. New egg has 4790s for ~$290, and z97 MSI motherboard for ~$80. I was thinking about replacing HD7950 with something more energy efficient, but can't afford gtx 9 series...

Any advice on how to build a gaming pc based on I7 4790s will be greatly appriciated!

I second. Total bang for buck. And if you're already getting the i7 4790, you might as well go high end.

Get the Asus STRIX or MSI Gaming 4G. Both efficient, silent and cool.

In fact, save...
750ti has very low power consumption, but it's not a gaming video card... I'm trying to build a pc that will be able to handle Far cry 4 on high settings. Gtx 9 series would be a great option, but I don't want to spend ~$350 on gpu.

then a 760 or 2x r9 270x or 2x r9 280. what the 280 is 30 bucks more for two. why do you need such low power consumption? you might have been better off getting a 4790k as it never would reach max tdp and oc w/ out touching voltage would mean more preformance per watt. dont expect FC4 on high @ 1080p60 w/o spending 320+ on a gpu, as the r9 290 will draw ~400 watts

It's a low-mid tier gaming card, but you want a low cost, lower energy, high end card. Hmmm.

I'm looking for power efficient mid-high end video card. I'm willing to spend up to $300, but really don't want to end up with a 200+ watt video card.

eat the extra fifty bucks. get the 970.

In fact, save some money by getting the i5 4690, and you'll still have a very good system IMO. Few games these days even make use of i7's hyperthreading.
