Need advice on buying a new CPU

So i built my PC about 4 years ago and i managed to spend about 300 on my cpu and 300 on my mobo... well i got a intel i-7 950 (3.2Ghz quad core) and a evga x85 ftw3 MOBO.... well the 1366 LGA chipset is now obsolete and i feel like im seening a performance drop in my PC... I currently have a 900w cooler master (probly overkill) PS, gtx 660 gpu, 8gb of crucial ballistix ram. I have a budget of about 500 give or take a hundred depending on the suggestion. Doing very minor research i found a bundle on newegg for this CPU/Mobo/Ram (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1750742)

Any advice is greatly appreciated and feel free to ask any questions.

Get yourself a z97/h97 with a new i5 or i7 if you can afford it.
