No, the 1950pro does not support DX10, but DX10 so far doesn't really seem much different from 9, and if your running XP it doesn't make any difference. I have the 1950pro and I'm really happy with it, but if I were you I'd drop the sound card and probably go for an 8800GTS if you want to do any gaming. Glad to see some of us are still using AMD.

The x1950 performs better then the 8600 card you've chosen. The mid/low range dx10 cards aren't really worth the money. You get better performance from a higher end dx9 card. Also...Even if these new cards support DX10..That doesn't mean they can actually run the game thx to performance issues. Overall nab a x1950 pro or XT...if you are to nab ANY dx10 card...Make sure it as ATLEAST a 8800 GTS of ATI 2900Xt...Although I've put my rig on hold for g92...I really don't like the dx10 performance of current dx10 cards...

Ummm the X1950 doesn't just perform better than the 8600, it completely rapes it. It's pretty pointless to pay $80-100 on a sound card on a budget build, you could put that money to good use instead getting a 8800GTS 320.

I'd also drop the CPU for an Athlon 64 X2 5400+, you save $30 by losing 200mhz that you won't even notice. That should give you enough wiggle room to get a DECENT PSU and a decent graphics card.
