Need Advice On CPU Upgrade

I currently have a FX4300 as my processor and have been looking to upgrade because it's been causing a bottleneck for my 1060, people have suggested buying a ryzen processor to fix this problem but it's a bit pricy for me costing me close to $400. I was wondering if someone could suggest a more affordable solution for me, thanks.

it depends on your motherboard.if you want to keep it you are limited as to what you can upgrade to.maybe an fx6300 or an 8300 depending on the motherboard.best to post your complete specs.

The problem you will run into is any money you spend on your current platform will be wasted. The speed upgrade is incremental at best. Ryzen is a good choice, but you'll need a new motherboard and ram to do it too. That said if your budget is halfway to a Ryzen upgrade its worth waiting and saving your money, its that much of a difference.

My mobo is a Gigabyte Ultra Durable Classic 4 GA-78LMT-S2, my CPU is a AMD FX4300, with 8 gigs of ram, my GPU is a GTX 1060 3gb. Im looking to hopefully keep it under 300 with 350 being my max. I've been told that both an fx6300 or 8300 would not be worth my time, however I am always open to another opinion.

They aren't, thats a low end board and both those CPUs basically are the same as the CPU you have just with 2 and 4 extra cores respectively which only help in some games, but in most cases are slow. Better CPUs won't work in that board.

If you have $350 to spend, save the extra $50 for an upgrade to Ryzen. It will last you years.

Ditto, with a 1060, it's definitely worth it saving up for a Ryzen 1600/B350 combo with some DDR4.

If you need to save money this is the minimum configuration I'd go with. It fits right in with what you want to spend and it would be a good match for your graphics card.

And I wouldn't be recommending cheap memory thats not on the QVL or known working well with Ryzen if you're gonna be pushing 3000mhz memory (which I agree with). Ryzen still has its issues with memory.
