Need advice on ext. tv tuner

I've been frustrated looking for this particular kind of external tv tuner. What I need is a box that has A/V out (even better if the output has VGA+Composite/S-Video) and to make sure it's not only a turn-your-old-monitor-to-tv-but-sorry-you-can't-capture tv box, it would have USB 2.0 connection to function as PVR also. The reason I'm not getting PCI is that most of the time I need just to watch TV w/o having to turn on my PC but at the same time I also need the capability of recording. Anybody has seen this kind of tv tuner (which is still available on the market, of course)? Thanks.

you need an external tv tuner......such as Viewsonic's Nextvision

You cant record without your PC on. I guess just get a Replay/TiVo type item. You have to have your computer on to get USB. I think I understand what you are asking.

Or their is an old thing called a VCR.
