Hello I'm trying to build my first gaming pc and was wondering if these parts are compatible
or should I swap them for something else?

-I have planned to start building this month with a budget of $1000-1500. I can push 2k if needed.
System Usage:I'm mostly going to be using this pc just for gaming purposes and also frequent video editing and rendering (render time is just ridiculous on my current pc).
Parts:I just only need a pc and the correct power supply unit for it.
websites:newegg.com or tigerdirect.com
Country: I currently reside in the US, California to be more precise.
parts preferences:I don't really have one just as long as it works lol.
Overclocking:Most likely not.
SLI or crossfire: nope
Monitor Resolution: currently at 1280x1024, but I'm going to be buying a higher resolution in the near future.
Maybe 1600x1200 or 1920x1080.

No additional comments, come what may :)

I suggest using the guide below to ask for advice, otherwise you'll get less replies

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] ild-advice

Include links to the parts you want not just the names, this tells people where you plan to buy from and allows quick access to see which part you've selected.

Other than that I can provide some advice straight away:

HDD samsung spinpoit 3 1TB is a fast and cheap hdd
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6822152185

need to have 1.5volt memory for sandy bridge. something like this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820231277

yes the 900 case will fit everything though you could save some cash and buy the coolermaster CM690 advance II or something similar (not much diff in prcie)

California. you want to buy from amazon no taxes baby!!! but not for long, that is a whole other story though.

you should get a z68 they have faster rendering times- http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-DDR3-Intel-Motherboard-GA-Z68XP-UD3P/dp/B0054OWT6K/ref=sr_1_23?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1311134117&sr=1-23 , http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Z68XP-UD3-Intel-Motherboard-GA-Z68XP-UD3/dp/B0054OWTQU/ref=sr_1_17?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1311134117&sr=1-17 , http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Maximus-IV-Gene-Z-Motherboards/dp/B005584ZHQ/ref=sr_1_8?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1311134117&sr=1-8 pick how much you want to spend all are sli capable

@mjmjpfaff sweet no tax! I had no idea plus the prices are pretty nice.
For the psu i thought 750w was overkill but i guess not and I thank you good sir for your input. I actually might go with all your suggestions.

if you actually doing a lot of video editing I'd suggest getting the i2600k over the i2500k, its better for multi tasking and video editing than the i2500k.

However if you don't plan to overclock you could just go with a H67 board rather than a z68.

P67 - overclocking
H67 - onboard graphics ports
Z68 - both

@mjmjpfaff ah ok so if I were to get a single gtx 560 Ti, the 550w would do well?

@shadow1942 and yes I do A LOT of video editing and so if I switched to i2600k would I have to change anything else?
and also on the OC part I might get tempted so I'll probably stay safe on Z68.
