Need advice on gaming components

Would really appreciate some advice from more experienced builders.

There will be 3 Noctua fans btw. I am aiming for a fairly powerful gaming rig with the option to OC. Budget around $2500.
Some questions I have are:

1) Would upgrading to an i7 make any difference? (short term/long term).
2) Am I spending too much on RAM?.
3) Are there any good/reasonably priced 1440p monitors?
4) Is the Z77 the best mobo for the price? (for gaming purposes)

Also looking for any other advise about my build, don't be shy. You are not wasting your time, this rig WILL be built. *Geek Gang Sign*

1) i7 wont really make a noticeable difference in games, but I would change your CPU and mobo to the current gen. (i5-4760k, Z87)
2) Yes
3) not sure
4) See #1. Also, just look at the features you want on the mobo. There is little difference in performance between entry level and high end Z87 boards.
