Need advice on gaming system build.

Jun 14, 2009
Hello. It’s been a while since I built a system so I’m looking for any good advice the community can share. This will be a gaming system on a budget. I want to be able to run all the latest and up and coming games at full graphics settings if possible. My budget is between $1500 and $1700. All the components and prices are from Will this build keep my happy for the next 3 years? :)

Everything looks pretty good, only is there any reason you want Sparkle cards? I would go with XFX of EVGA for Nvidia cards, I prefer them over others, but that's your choice (Just looked at the price, and noticed why). Also I think you can get 6GB of DDR3 1333 for under $100.

As for your monitor, you might appreciate and extra inch for just $10. Here are two from Newegg if you want them:

Looks pretty good except for that patriot ram. Go for this:

I don't know much about Sparkle brand GPU's, but you don't need two GTX 275's, 260's would be plenty for that resolution. You can look at the SBM for may and see what kind of gaming results they got with GTX 260's SLI.

The V8 is a good heatsink, but there are cheaper ones that perform better. Look at these:

Nice build! Looking good. But one comment to consider. Since you are going to use your Rig for Gaming why noy go with AMD and save some bucks. And if you don't care about physics get two HD4890 and xfire them. That should save you some money too and beats a GTX295.
But since I also have a similar set up like yours I would say go for it. It kick ass on all aspects of computing.
