Hello!
I have a question regards updating PC gpu..
I have a 10700k and Rtx3070....
What is best gpu to update to rtx 3090 or 4070ti?
Also 4070ti runs on pci5 gen while 3090 on pci4..
Does it will make difference if I put 4070ti on old system pci4 ?

Hold onto you cash for another generation of GPU's, IMHO, and then spend on what comes after the RTX 5000 series. Also, as it stands the RTX4070Ti is/was a joke of a RTX4080(lower memory specs).

Not sure what you are referring to I have seen no video card that has pcie5 support. A 4070ti will have no issues with pcie4

There have been people that tested 4090 on pcie4 with only 8 lanes and it runs almost the same as 16 lanes. This means there is a long way to go until cards actually need pcie5.

What resolution do you use for gaming?

The 3070 is stll a good gpu. I would ty to hold out a bit longer unless you desire the upgrade.

I am using a 4070 TI on an AMD x570s motheroard PCIe4 with a 5800x3d. It is a great 1440p gpu.

if your running a 1080, the 3070 is a GREAT card.

Save your money!!!!!!!!!!

I would think a 3070 at 1080p would get more than 30 FPS in most any game.

here is the specs.........if your not getting 60 FPS you have a issue (wrong setting or driver)..

RECOMMENDED:
  • OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit versions only)
  • Processor: AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz, Ryzen 5 - 1400, Intel Core i7-3770 @ 3.5 GHz
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 290 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (4GB VRAM or more with Shader Model 5.0) or better – See supported list*
  • System RAM: 8GB
  • Resoltuion: 1080p
  • Video Preset: High
  • Storage: 46GB

The PCI-Express version won't make any difference for those cards. As for which you should get, it depends on what the prices are. However, I wouldn't recommend buying a new video card because there's another point that you need to consider. Your CPU can't keep up with either of those new cards and you'd be wasting your money by spending it where you shouldn't.

The i7-10700K will be a bottleneck to both of those cards. At 1080p, even the faster i9-10900K will bottleneck an RX 6600, a card that costs less than $250 and is FAR slower than either of the cards that you're looking at. I don't believe that you'd get any real increase in gaming performance from upgrading your RTX 3070 because your CPU is already bottlenecking your RTX 3070 at 1080p and 1440p.
I've cued it up to the point where this is addressed.

You might want to think about upgrading your platform before blowing all that money on a mid-range video card. It's even worse with nVidia cards because GeForce drivers have a higher CPU overhead than Radeon drivers.

If you upgrade your CPU, even with the same card, you will get much better framerates. Upgrading your GPU would be money spent on essentially nothing.

Don't buy a new GPU....keep the 3070! Enough power and enough VRAM/bandwidth for any 1080p gaming, even with ray tracing. What are you trying to accomplish with a faster card? Trying to find the game engine fps limits?

1080p, you don't need to worry about GPU. A CPU/Motherboard upgrade might be a better option. IIRC, AC Odyssey is terribly optimized, and doesn't run well on anything.

My old RTX 2080 with 8700k gave me up to 100 fps on AC Odyseey and well over 60fps on AC Valhalla, both in 1440p resolution and both with highest graphics settings. I wouldn't call either game having insane specs for todays standards. 30fps seems unrealistic. Something wrong with your system.....
