Need advice on HTPC build

I'm looking to build a cheap HTPC from parts I already have. My main question is about motherboard/chip.

I have a Core 2 Duo Quad Q8400, that i would like to use if possible. My question is: Is it a good chip for simple htpc (no 4k, blu ray, or other higher end needs at the moment) and what motherboard would be a good mate for it in the 775 category?

Second, if I don't go with that cheap chip, my next thought was to set up the HTPC with an anniversary combo (G3258 and Asrock Z97 Anniversary). Just curious as to thoughts on either combo. Thanks in advance for replies.

With an HTPC you are mostly doing playback, so if you can play a 1080p with say <50% CPU/GPU load ur good.

Majority of the use would actually be streaming Netflix, and others. Just not absolutely sure of the capabilities with either combo for that.
