Okay I currently have the following Motherboard, but perhaps I am having buyer's remorse:
GIGABYTE GA-P55-UD4P LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128400
I know it's a good motherboard, and I can still return it to Amazon, but I want to make sure I haven't totally gimped myself. I realize that means I am looking at a i7 or i5, I am not so much worried about the Foxconn issue, since I won't really be overclocking.
I am pretty sure, if I keep the MOBO, I would go with the i5 750 and the following memory.
G.SKILL ECO Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231321
I've read all the reviews of the i5, and it seems it will definitely be enough, but could upgrade to the i7. I realize that AMD Phenoms would also do well for what I want. Have I limited my upgrade capabilities with the Mobo choice? The cost difference on newegg from i5 to i7 is about 80 bucks.
I will probably pick up the DVD drive listed in the choosing parts thread.
