So recently I upgraded my Dell Inspiron 3647 with a new case, a Thermaltake Smart 500w power supply, and a GTX 150 Ti graphics card.

This was my first time building a PC but I did a decent amount of research and thought this upgrade would be suitable. And while I am experiencing a boost in game performance, I still have a feeling that my graphics card isn't preforming up to its potential.

Please help if you can give me any advice on what to buy or fix. From my little knowledge I'm thinking either the RAM or CPU would be bottle necking the performance. Thank you.

Specs:
  • Intel Core i3-4150 CPU @ 3.5Ghz
    4Gb DDR3 RAM
    GTX 1050 Ti Sc GPU
    1Tb Seagate HDD
    Thermaltake Smart 500w PSU

Solution
Yep, as another user recommended, get some more RAM. You should try to get it in a kit, so 8 new GB of RAM, because that's the only way to guarantee it works out of the box. 8 GB should be plenty with your set up

Really just testing games such as Overwatch, Rust, Rocket League and noticing that the game look great, but every now and then they will stutter or load textures for a long time.

I tried playing the new PUBG game and I couldnt even get past the loading screen but a couple times and then it would freeze my entire PC.

Yes, I was going to do that regardless, but idk know if that is only thing I need to upgrade in order to get the best out of my GPU.

500w seems way too low to run a 150 ti in my opinion go for a 650w at the minimum but if you wanted to upgrade your GPU again you would need to upgrade power supply all over again, i recommend in any build to not cheap out on power supplies because it is the most important piece of your computer

that 500w is not very good, but PLENTY for such a low power card

The 1050ti uses, at maximum, 75 watts. a 500 watt PSU is perfect for that, but you still want a good PSU. I recommend a seasonic s12ii 520 watt

Hey what case do you use? I have an inspiron 3647 and I want to upgrade it with a good power suply and a GTX 1050 so I need a new case but in other sites they said that there were no other cases for this pc because the motherboard isn't standard ATX

standard 24-pin connection, looks like micro atx???

the vast majority of cases would support it IF it was micro-atx

you need to make sure it is not b-atx which would NOT be supported by cases
