Need advice on new build

Looks fine to me. I didn't look so you should double check your case and make sure your gfx card will fit. It should be fine... but on some cases you have to remove a harddrive cage to fit really big cards.

Whats the rig for, the i7 (which is locked, so why the Z77 board and cooling?) says video editing, but the 8GB of RAM says gaming. Also the PSU is overkill if your just after a single GPU.

Knowing what the rig is for will help us know how to help you. There are also some things that can just be generally improved though.

Newer and cheaper HDD.

Thanks for the advice. Making this a gaming rig and to have enough wiggle room for expansion. Not going to overclock.
You mentioned cooling. With this type processor, what is the normal temp in degrees shoudl I be concerned with? Anything over 60 constant? What are minimal levels?

If its a non-overclocking gaming rig, then get an i5-3570 and a H77 board. The i7 isnt needed for gaming and the $100 extra for it can be spent on a bigger graphics card, which is more important.
Also you can downgrade the PSU to a 650W if you arent going to Crossfire/SLI.

What temps you should be getting will depend on room temperature largely and whether the CPU is under any load or not. But as long as it stays under 80c at full load (Prime 95) there's no issue with it running too hot.

you can also add an SSD in there..a 128gb crucial m4 or samsung 830..its not a requirement for gaming though..will only reduce load time for games.

Good point. Need to look at adding Ssd drive in this build. Se the tb drive for other stuff
