Although you can go up to and over 4000MHz on that combo, 3600MHz with CL 15 or 16 seem to be an optimum performance/value ratio. Over that gains are getting smaller. Ryzen 5000 on 500 chipset MBs handles using all 4 slots (both IMCs) well unlike older Ryzen.Hello there, I have a 5900x, and I was wondering, which RAM frequency and latency would be best to use with this cpu, as I'm already using Vengeance 32 GB kits of 8 gb sticks at 3000mhz at channel 15.
MSI B55M Pro-Vdh
Most ram kits I see that that are in 3600mhz are mostly in 18CL, should I keep looking for the lower channels ?Although you can go up to and over 4000MHz on that combo, 3600MHz with CL 15 or 16 seem to be an optimum performance/value ratio. Not much difference overall but RAM with low latency tend to be better made and binned to get maximum performance from that frequency. Most ram kits I see that that are in 3600mhz are mostly in 18CL, should I keep looking for the lower channels ?
Just an example. Most ram kits I see that that are in 3600mhz are mostly in 18CL, should I keep looking for the lower channels ?
So like in terms of gaming or overall use of the pc ?Not much difference overall but RAM with low latency tend to be better made and binned to get maximum performance from that frequency.
Yeah, and they are quite pricey actually, but fair, since it has lower latencies.
That was in terms of gaming or overall use of the pc , chasing benchmarks is another story. So like in terms of gaming or overall use of the pc ?
Chipset has little to none to do with it, it's type of MB that has 500 series chipset, Those are newest MBs with better memory handling and BIOS to match it. Ultimately IT's BIOS that decides what settings to to use from JEDEC and XMP offered by RAM.I started to look at the ram specs, it says that it supports X570, so if I have b550m , why my ram is working fine then, or I'm getting it wrong ?

Oh, so as long as I match the right positions, frequencies, amount and timings of the ram kits, it won't matter chipset do I have ?Chipset has little to none to do with it, it's type of MB that has 500 series chipset, Those are newest MBs with better memory handling and BIOS to match it. Exactly. It would be same even on intel.Oh, so as long as I match the right positions, frequencies, amount and timings of the ram kits, it won't matter chipset do I have ?
