Hello everyone,
I'm looking to buy my first tablet and would be grateful for some advice. I want to go for an Android tablet because I want to be able to transfer files on the tablet without being locked into Apples ecosystem (I don't own any Apple products).
I have looked at reviews and shortlisted some candidates at the end as well as some more questions. Which one of those would be the best choice? Did I miss one that might fit the bill?
Are there factors besides specs that I should take into account?
Is it worth paying extra for a wireless data option vs the Wifi-only one?
Thanks in advance for all answers.
Uses:
1. reading
2. web browsing
3. casual gaming (I got a good desktop to play on seriously but I will probably end up playing on the tablet as well)
4. light work (check & write emails, type up the odd paragraph or take notes) but this is the least important one
Priorities:
8-9" screen as a compromise between being portable and possible uses
Least lag when using / good response speed
Can handle multiple apps running at once
Screen gives an acceptable reading experience
Sturdy built / don't have to worry too much about carrying it around
Decent storage (32 GB atleast)
Ok front camera so I can use it for skyping
As little preinstalled bloatware as possible
Budget:
around £200-300
Candidates:
Nvidia Shield Tablet - I really liked the sound of the shield, which seems to be an all around good tablet with a gaming focus. Also looks pretty cool. Battery life, screen quality and Wifi protocol seem to be the biggest issues though. How much would battery, screen and Wifi protocol actually affect day to day use? Is 16:10 an ok form factor for reading pdfs and webpages on a browser?
Nexus 9 - Sounds pretty solid, besides the bad front camera and no SD card. Since it is only dual-core, is there any noticeable lag?
Sony Xperia Z3
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0
Thanks for reading so far, I'd be glad to hear some opinions.
