Question Need advice, SATA port faulty ?

Oct 30, 2021
Hi all,

Ryzen R5 3600
Gigabyte B450 DS3H
Palit GTX1060 3GB
Corsair Vengance LPX 2933mhz 2x8GB
Coolermaster MWE Gold 550W
Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 250GB
Toshiba P300 1TB HDD

Recently my PC starts to shutdown automatically when i start running application from my HDD.
I check my temp using HWmonitor, all component running within 30~40 degc.
The shutdown issue is gone when I disconnected the power and SATA cable from HDD.
BIOS will still show the component connected to the SATA port.
Shutdown issue only happens after the window loading screen.

Steps i took to diagnose:
Replace the HDD to hard disk reader, PC will shutdown whenever the reader starts reading.
Swapped the power cable, same issue
Swapped the IDE/SATA power port with a new power cable at the PSU side, same issue
Swapped the SATA cable, same issue
Use new power cable, same issue
Tried all the methods on three different SATA port, same issue

I removed the HDD, SATA & power cable to the HDD. Random shutdown still occurs.
Checked the 3.3, 5 and 12V, all looks good.
