need advice see below

i have a dell latitude d620 and would like to start gaming i am a novice and would like to start with GTA 4 what graphic card would you suggest thank you michael

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your graphics are built in (not upgradeable) and the older C2D 1.66ghz cpu doesn't score too high in the benchmark area either... I would suggest either buying a new laptop or desktop. Preferably, I would buy a new desktop. Laptops are meant to be portable work machines, not high end gaming rigs, they tend to produce lots of heat/ware down fast when they are used as gaming rigs, so not a good choice. If you have a desktop at home already, just check your benchmarks, see what you could possibly upgrade to make it a gaming rig (cpu, gpu, ram, motherboard, power supply, etc.) instead of just throwing out a couple grand on a new machine. I honestly game on my old 2008 HP desktop (cant remember the original model), all I did was upgrade its GPU, and put in a new hard drive for $225ish total, and it can play most games on medium-ultra with my dual monitor display depending on what it is I am playing.

Hi boxer thanks so much for the feedback. taken on board. if i do buy a new desktop any suggestions? and what would i need for gaming to be generally upto date? (i assume you could go on forever tech-wise but as a beginner i do not want to go mad at the first leg) Thanks again michael

For about $500 you can build a low end gaming system.

If you buy used, you can probably get down to $300 or $250 for a Qxxxx based system with 4 gig of RAM and a decent video card that will handle most games.
