Hi guys,

I've been using this PC for years now, the most 2 recent upgrades that I made were the Samsung 128GB SSD + another 8GB RAM. I don't play games at all, I mainly watch movies + study. I have no intention of upgrading the graphic card, but I'll will upgrade the CPU. Any ideas on which upgrades should I make first?

Thanks guys.

Thanks CTurbo,

There are some things I don't understand as I am not familiar with PC hardware. Some sources say my main-board isn't compatible with FX2+; only compatible with FM2 socket, other sources say it is (AMD website) therefor I'm quite worried that the CPU I'm going to buy isn't compatible with my current motherboard.

Another thing is, my PC's speed is 3.9Ghz, let's say I upgrade to AMD A10 7700K, the speed of the processor is only at 3.4Ghz which is slower than my current one. as I said I am not familiar with PC hardware, can you or someone please explain?

Your CPU has two cores, the A8/A10 has 4, so even if the clockspeed is a little lower, you'll see an almost doubling in processing power.

FM2+ motherboards are backward compatible with FM2 CPUs, but you cannot use an FM2+ CPU in an FM2 socket. Your best bet is to pick out a socket FM2 A8 or A10 6xxx CPU.
