NEED advice

Hello, im making my first build and need a little advice on a gpu.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE 3.4 Ghz quad core processor
Case: NZXT Gamma Classic (Black) ATX Mid Tower
PSU: Antec Basiq VP450 450W Power Supply ATX12V V2
Memory: Patriot Viper 3 8GB 2X4GB PC3-12800 DDR3-1600
Mobo: GIGABYTEGA-78LMT-USB3 AM3+ AMD 760GHDMI USB 3.0Micro ATXAMD motherboard

I was thinking about the radeon 7850 2gb oc version for 199.99 on newegg. Would that be overkill for a moderate gaming build? Would the 1gb version be better considering im only running one monitor @ 1440x900? Thanks

The 7850 2GB would be a good choice. As far as I have seen the 1GB version is not much cheaper, if at all. You may want a little better psu, but that one should work if you don't OC. A Corsair CX 500 would be a good choice.

I'd look at the 1GB version, one day I found them at a staggering $170. I would also want a better PSU, so that you can crossfire later on. I like the Corsair CX600.

I already have the psu and not looking to buy a new one. I may upgrade it when I overclock in the future. its well worth the extra $30 and won't be bottlenecked? I wont need crossfire.

With your PSU (a good 450 watts unit) i'll go on the 7770, a 7850 or a 650ti/660 non-ti... (however the 7850/660 is more on the limit due to the PSU) but you'll be happy with any newer GPUs

PS: at your resolution, i think a 650ti/7770 will be more than enough...

330w at 75% which is safe enough and I consider anything over that margin to be very iffy and generally would want a PSU upgrade just to be safe.

The 7850 only uses two 6 pins and as 6 pins only required 75w of power + pcie slot is 75w + cpu @ 125w non OCed = 350w + a bit extra for fans/harddrives/misc.

So, cutting it close but it should work assuming you don't overclock.

Moral of the story, the oc'd 7850 is the better choice but don't overclock cpu without a psu upgrade first?

I'm on a pretty strict budget, so as long as the card is a good and viable option for me with no hardware issues, I will worry about upgrading when the time comes. Thank you guys.
