Hi guys just wanted to ask if you guys know where I can buy an AMD mini itx motherboard for a Bitfenix prodigy build, I have an AMD x4 640 AM3 socket, looking to spend around £80 for it :)

Thanks

As far as I'm aware, they don't exist. I've seen FM2 socket (APU) ITX AMD boards, and there's a good variety of Intel boards, but I'm not aware of any manufacturer that makes AM3+ ITX boards.

If you already bought the case, you might need a rethink. If you didn't then it's worth noting that the Prodigy is quite big for an ITX case (have one myself) so you can find MicroATX cases that are of a similar size, and there are an awful lot of mATX AM3+ boards.

Yeah cheers I've seen a few for around 100+ but if I were going to pay for that price I would probably buy an intel mobo and i5 or i7 how much do you recon would an intel mobo and i5/i7 processor would cost? :) Haven't bought the case just thinking of an idea if I were to downgrade as I will be hopefully going uni this year but it would be a pain taking a full gaming rig up 😀

Well, the motherboard is going to run you about $80-$120, depending. (mITX mobos are kinda expensive.)

And then the i5-3570k is $215. (And you shouldn't even consider buying an i7. The only difference between it and the i5 is that the i7 has hyperthreading, which games don't use anyways.)

I actually highly recommend the Bitfenix Prodigy with a new i5. Newer processors and graphics cards are extremely efficient, so there's absolutely no worry about heat, and the Prodigy is a great case. I side-graded into it last year for the same reason you're considering, and I haven't had one issue between taking it home, to LAN parties... or on the airplane as a carry-on.

Yeah cheers will definately build a bitfenix prodigy before going uni 😀 was planning on saving up and getting an alienware mx14 but I figured it would cost a lot more than making a pc and buying a secondary laptop :sarcastic:

Just had a look an found an Am3 mini itx: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003AM1HWK/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller= would probably buy it so that I do not have to switch to intel as I've basically got everything except the motherboard and case ^_^

It occurred to me after writing in this thread that the reason I haven't seen (m)any AMD ITX boards is simply due to size. AM3/AM3+ processors are significantly bigger than Intel 1155 and an ITX board is very short on space at the best of times. Not that this thought is helpful to your current predicament mind you.

Thanks for letting me know :) that was helpful 😀

If you look in newegg and search AM3+ with only 1 x 2.0 PCIe slot, then there are some micro ITX. I'm not sure of the difference between Micro ITX and Mini ITX

None of those are ITX form.
