Just upgraded to a 1070 and I'm looking for a 1440p 144hz monitor for around $500
I have three choices currently:

BenQ XL2730Z 144Hz 1ms 27 inch $500

*Acer XF270HU 27-inch $465

ASUS MG279Q - 1440p, 144Hz

I've heard good and bad things from the ASUS and BenQ but I haven't done much research on the Acer. It honestly looks too good to be true when I look at the specs.

They are all free sync but I really don't care for it. Also I'm not looking to get 144 frames on every game, I'm just handicapped from my current 144hz monitor

The other option is to just wait a while and perhaps get a ROG SWIFT or an ACER PREDATOR but I really don't want to sell my kidney for one (or two).
My plans is just to enjoy some sweet 2k for awhile and then hopefully try doing some SLI and running 4k on my 2k monitor (with the dsr stuff for nvidia? not sure how that works).
Anyone have any experience with these monitors?

S2716DG is made of TN panel. The viewing angle will never come close to IPS/VA.

PG279Q or XB271HU is good, if you can afford it. PG279Q is slightly faster, since it can go up to 165Hz.
Ultrawide IPS with GSync monitors are still extremely expensive e.g. PG348q and the resolution 3440x1440 is already quite close to 4k, which needs serious computing power. I would stick with 1440p 16:9 for now.

I just read up on TN and yeh I'm probably gonna go with IPS but howcome the Benq is able to hit 1ms while the asus has like 5? Is it noticeable? Btw I am using the lower tier BenQ XL2720Z 144hz 1ms and an RL2455HM as a secondary. Planning on using my current BenQ as a secondary and the 2k as my main

1ms doesnot mean a thing. Monitor refresh rate plays the bigger role.
You can even find 1ms 60Hz monitors <-- this is lame tho'

1.
To run @144Hz refresh rate, the monitor runs must change the picture every around latest 7ms.
MG279Q runs around 4-5ms @144hz, which makes it is ok.
Your eyes can not really differ 1ms @144hz or 4ms @144Hz. You see only max 144fps anyway.

2.
TN panels like on XL2720Z, XL2730Z, etc. runs faster than any IPS at the moment. That is juts the way it is.
Even the 144Hz IPS e.g. MG279Q, is not exactly IPS. They are more from VA type.

I mean now that I think of it, I really don't mind my TN monitor at home and if could get an upgraded version of that just in higher res and the same refresh rate then that would be fine. It all depends how much money I have at the time and how badly I want it. For awhile I'll be enjoying 1080p at 144hz which would keep me happy for awhile, and maybe try some 200 res scale on 1080p. So it all really depends what my budget is looking like in a couple of months

Also if I do end up saving money (which i think is the best option for me) which high end is best?
Acer Predator 27"
Rog Swift
Acer XB270HU
ect.?

Also anyone have any experience with ultra wide?

And also I saw a frankie video where he was using a swift and doing 4k on a 2k monitor? Is that a resolution scale thing or an Nvidia DSR adjustment?

Thanks!

Was never a fan of dell and I think I'm just gonna go with the ROG SWIFT PG279Q or ACER Predator. Ditch out some money but thanks for the recommendation. Its good to have more options.

Thanks for the reply. I don't understand why viewing angles are so important. I mean I'm gonna be sitting in front of the monitor any ways and isn't that better so people don't check out what you're doing? I'm going to go with a 1440p 16:9 was just curious about ultrawide

If you always use your monitor alone, viewing angle is not a big issue but as soon as you wanna share your monitor view with more people, this is an issue.
I always avoding TN panel because of this.

aha! hehehehehe.... privacy from people looking at what you are doing? TN viewing angle is not as bad as you think, you can not use TN bad viewing angle to hide what you are doing.
