NEED ANSWER ASAP: can an intel i5 3570S fit into the same motherboard as an i5 3570k?

I'm creating a custom PC at the moment, and beginning to bring together my parts. For my cpu i bought the Intel i5 3570S 3.10GHz, thinking it wasn't really much different from a i5 3570K 3.40GHz. Can they still fit into the same motherboard as each other (like if i had both CPU's and put both in at separate times, would they fit in the same mother board and work?((again, not at the same time)))

If so, what motherboards would you recommend that are still in stock? I cannot find any still in stock.
Or, should I re-sell it/ get my money back and buy a better one? if so which one along with motherboard choice?

They work on the same motherboard, it's just lower-clocked. There's no real purpose, however, to getting a 3570S, a normal form factor desktop build doesn't really care all that much about using less power; you lose about 10% of performance. Given that it's a 2012 CPU, even with generational changes being fairly small nowadays, I wouldn't laugh off the 10% loss.

So I'd definitely return a 3570S for a 3570k, but depending on your budget and needs, none of that may be a good selection. I'm very happy with my 3770k still, but I certainly wouldn't *build* a rig with one today.

If you're not expecting to OC your build, the 3570 is less expensive ($78.09.@Amazon-25/06/17) than the 3570S (119.19@Amazon-25/06/17). The 3570 also has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the 3570S (3.4GHz vs 3.1 GHz).
