Hello,

I am looking to build a new pc, designed mainly for Gaming and a very small touch of photoshop/video/music editing.

Budget is around 2k-3k CAD and hopefully revolved around 1080/ti and a 1440p 144hz monitor. I do not plan to overclock.

This will be my second ever built PC, my first was done 8 years ago and possible the only thing salvageable is the 256GB SSD.

Any thoughts/suggestions/inputs are highly appreciated!

Intel i7-8700K is definitely worthy for usage over time. Even if you are not going to OC for now. In future when you want to push a bit more performance off the build overclocking can come in handy.

RAM yes there is barely any difference. Corsair is very good.

2SSDs is a bad idea. SSD for a storage is still impractical because of its price. Get HDD for storage.

All three monitors are good and have similar specs. Acer and ASUS can be overclocked a bit high to 165Hz but seriously 144Hz should be enough for gaming. DELL comes with faster response time. No big difference.
Here is the list:

I recommend waiting for the launch of GTX1180 as it is only months away. GTX1180 is around 20% more powerful than GTX1080Ti and around 50% more powerful than GTX1080 on paper which is a huge gain. If possible wait for it.

As you have SSD there is no need to get new one. If you need HDD then get one.

If I dont plan to OC much or at all, would the 8700k still be worth considering? I've been looking at a bunch of parts and builds. I do agree with most of the items you picked out.

Would it be wise to get 2 SSD, 1 for storage and 1 for OS?

For ram, I've been hearing the G.Skill is generally better but there is barely any noticeable difference between brands. Is this true? Should I just go for the cheaper one?

For Monitor I had my eye on a few (under $1,000)
-ASUS PG279Q
-Acer XB271HU

How do they compare with Dell? I feel I wouldn't notice that big of a difference between 1ms and 4ms so I'm less inclined to jump on Asus PG278QR in hopes of saving a few bills. Unless you guys would think that it's worth the jump? If so, why?

Any input/thoughts are appreciated thank you!
