I don't know where else to turn, I know this site is about hardware but I need assistance is this is the only place I have left. My Alienware M18x r2 (it was a gift, would have rather built a computer myself) had its initial GPU, the Nvidia 660m, fry and was replaced by a 770m. Problem, the 770m is from another laptop, So to I can't go through the typical route of installing the latest driver, I need a modified one. I can't modify the driver myself, as I am ill equipped with the necessary knowledge of such acts. I don't know where the part came from, it was apparently a spare over at the Parts People (Dell Computer Repair Service). Someone, please help me.

unfortunately this was off the record and the only thing they told me to do was turn to the internet for help getting a new driver

What do you mean it was off the record?

It was a third party company who replaced the GPU and they did not offer a warranty for a driver problem, the hardware works fine, it's the driver that's the problem. What I need is a modified driver.

the gpu is supported and it work brilliantly, I just can't update it. I need at the bare minimum the 340.52 driver. What I need is a modified driver, apparently it's quite common among alienware users but I don't know where or how to do any of it or where to get the files to mod in the first place
