The OS install, either Win 8.1 (why??) or Linux, is not motherboard specific.new install can run win 8.1 or Linux Endeavor
Installing Linux has nothing to do with the original install thing from Asus.I would move from windoz to Linux.
Actually want to run Linux Endevavor; I like it best of all the Arch distros , Asus z97-a installer disc no longer available from Asus .
Ok, I got Endeavour on my asus z97-a; but it does not boot from the installed nvme m-2 pcie motherboard card. I don't have the install disc that came with the motherboard. When I installed Endeavour it listed the nvme m-2 as one of the boot options; so I enabled it in the bios. It shows now as a storage device. It still did not boot from it. I have a feeling it has to be enabled somehow on the missing install disc. Can anybody think of a workaround ?Installing Linux has nothing to do with the original install thing from Asus.
