Hi, I have a P8H61-M LE Mobo.
I was wondering, how and when do I need to do a BIOS update?
I bought the PC couple years ago and was wondering if it was required for performance or whatsoever.
Thanks in advance :)

Asus shows that the latest BIOS for your motherboard is: P8H61-M LE BIOS 4601

Their support site for your motherboard is at the link below:

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H61M_LE/HelpDesk/
It does appear that they have a utility that will download (and probably install) the latest BIOS for you there.

BTW the note on that update said it increased system stability.
If you need bios info open msinfo32

There is really no reason to update your bios unless you absolutely have to (like you installed new hardware and its not working in your system until the bios is updated). Even if you expect a performance increase, it is going to be miniscule.

If you flash the wrong version or the power goes out suddenly, you will be left with a dead, most likely unrecoverable motherboard

Think of the bios as the backbone of your computer. If you brick it with a bios update, the backbone is snapped and that's the end of your system sadly.
