Need Build Help

My current build right now is:

GeForce GTX 970 (Driver version 375.70)
AMD FX(tm)-4170 Quad-Core Processor
7.98 GB RAM
and my monitor is a 1920x1080, 60Hz

I'm curious to which motherboard I should get because I think the current motherboard I have is bottlenecking the rest of my parts. (Not completely sure, just what some people have told me).

What motherboard do you have?

As Isokolon said, the motherboard probably isn't the issue here, its the CPU.

Your only options would be:

1. Expensive - Switch to Intel, which would require a new CPU, Motherboard, and DDR4 if you go with Skylake; or:

2. Cheaper - Pick up an FX 8350, assuming your motherboard supports it. Although its not as fast as an i5, it'll remove most of the bottleneck that the FX 4170 is causing.

More than likely the CPU is the bottleneck, the 4170 is on the lower end of an ages old series of CPUs

It should have the name of the motherboard printed on it somewhere.

As this is AMD, it should have 970, 990 or something like that in the name, eg M5A99X or GA-970A.
