Need Detail Spec. for OC my MOBO

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2
2.4ghz AMD+4000 / Not Black ED. 1mb cache
2gig-Ram GSkill CL2-3-3-5
250gig-HD / WD
Gforce 6200 / 128mb
SBlive 5.1
Power Supply: Xfinity 600watt

I have my system overclocked to 2.65ghz, at times i had it to 2.71ghz but sometimes it freezes... depends on the day...

I have 13 fans... large case.... every chipset has heat sink and fan...

i would like info on... what setting would be the best for OC, to the extreem.

Settings in Bios:

AGP is locked (Dont want to change that right now) but i could...
CPU is locked (because is not black edition) Heat sink, is close to Stock, but bigger, with Fan-80mm, out puts 35cfm
Ram = 215mhz (i think, i'm not at home right now) CL = 2-3-2-5

Now, i'm wondering what i could do to increase this better...???

if i increase my Ram to , say 220, do i need to increase my Volt. on my ram, or my CPU?
How far should i increase it to ???

What is the limit of voltage... for both CPU and Ram... i dont want to fry it, and i want to keep the voltage as low, or stock voltage... but increase my speed to its peek, at stock or increased voltage a little bit... this computer need to least 1 more year...

what CL setting should i use??? should i use CL 2.5 -3-2-5 or something, i dont understand how the numbers are changed...

and i have other setting refering to ram, like tRLD and Etc... there is about 8 different Symbles for settings, what are they, I'v read the toms guid on these settings, and i just dont understand them very well...

I own my own PC bis , for 6 years, and been a tech for about 12 years, so i guess, i'm not a newbe, but i'm trying to understand this overclocking stuff... etc...

I hope this is not too comfuseing... thanks

Dang son, with 13 large case fans that puppy should fly around the room at the end of power cable and suck up carpet and floor lint like nobodys business.

What else did you want it to do?
 



i do understand a little about the mem. / of the CL= latency= nano seconds= speed of mem.
but the other settings, not sure what it intails... and what the limit would be, for like overclocking them, what would happen to the memory, if i put the numbers too low, will it fry, or corrupt my HD data or what it would do...

i'm just trying to get the most out of my pc...

win xp boots in 16.4 sec right now, and trying to make it faster...

most of them are LED fans, its bright, i wish i had a Dig cam. and post a pic... its sweet...

and i'm thinking , when i get SLI video cards, i may add 2 more for the 2 cards...

and this pc does make some noise, but not bad... :)

some day, ill change it too water cooling... maybe, when i get my tax'es back...

the other day i saw this one, but it was INTEL stuff, so i had ingnored it...

but i read it... and did find some things out... , thanks man...

the next thing, is trying to figure out the RAM settings, and items like... tRD tXX tXX tXX ... etc... (there is about 10 items on my MOBO, i can change...) and wondering how i can Optimize them... Ill check google...

BTW, rg, just so you know, no matter what overclocking you do, it won't really speed up your Windows load time, because the bottleneck there is the (relatively) slow hard disk. For faster booting, put two drives in RAID 0, better two Velociraptors in RAID 0, best two fast SSD drives in RAID 0.

Advanced Memory Timings

* tRRD Timing: (Act to Act Delay) Row to Row Delay or RAS to RAS Delay. The amount of cycles that it takes to activate the next bank of memory. It is the opposite of tRAS. The lower the timing, the better the performance, but it can cause instability.
* tWTR Timing: (Rank Write To Read Delay) Write to Read Delay. The amount of cycles required between a valid write command and the next read command. Lower is better performance, but can cause instability.
* tRW Timing: (Write To Precharge Delay)Write Recovery Time. The amount of cycles that are required after a valid write operation and precharge. This is to insure that data is written properly.
* tRFC Timing: (Refresh To Act Delay) Row Refresh Cycle Timing. This determines the amount of cycles to refresh a row on a memory bank. If this is set too short it can cause corruption of data and if it is too high, it will cause a loss in performance, but increased stability.
* tRTP Timing: (Read To Precharge Delay) Number of clocks that are inserted between a read command to a row pre-charge command to the same rank.

Below Values are not in ALL BIOS's (See Below link for a FULL List of Values)

* tRTW/tRWT Timing: Read to Write Delay. When a write command is received, this is the amount of cycles for the command to be executed.
* tRC Timing: Row Cycle Time. The minimum time in cycles it takes a row to complete a full cycle. This can be determined by; tRC = tRAS + tRP. If this is set too short it can cause corruption of data and if it is to high, it will cause a loss in performance, but increase stability.
* tREF Timing: The amount of time it takes before a charge is refreshed so it does not lose its charge and corrupt. Measured in micro-seconds (µsec).
* tWCL Timing: Write CAS number. Write to whatever bank is open to be written too. Operates at a rate of 1T, but can be set to others. It does not seem to work with other settings than 1T on DDR. DDR2 is different though.
* Command Rate: Also called CPC (Command Per Clock). The amount of time in cycles when the chip select is executed and the commands can be issued. The lower (1T) the faster the performance, but 2T is used to maintain system stability. On Intel based machines, 1T is always used where the number of banks per channel are limited to 4.
* Static tREAD Value: (tRD) This setting is most commonly known as Performance Level or tRD this is the most effective chipset performance register available to adjustment. As FSB and memory speed are scaled/increased, tRD and Northbridge voltage will have to be increased to accommodate the additional data throughput. The idea when tweaking your system for the BEST performance is to run the tightest (Lowest) tRD possible at any given FSB or memory speed. See Below Link for more reading on this
