Need fast advice!

Hello!

Recently i bought parts for a new gaming rig.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
CPU Cooler: GlacialTech IGLOO 5700MC
Motherboard: ASUS P5N32-E SLI
RAM: 2x Kingston 1024MB 800MHz DDR2 CL5
HDD: 2x Westren Digital WD3200AAKS 320GB
Video Card: eVGA 8800GT 512MB
Sound Card: Creative SB X-Fi XtremeGamer
PSU: Enermax Liberty 620W
Case: Enermax Chakra ECA5001

I was just informed that the last piece of my new rig, the motherboard, has been delayed.

I need fast advice about whether or not to get it from another source or maybe order a different mobo for a good reason.

I have a Samsung 226BW monitor, and might need to go SLI sometime soon, so keep that in mind. (Basically what i am saying is that i need a SLI mobo and not CF).

Is there an equivalent mobo by GigaByte?

Like the P5N32-E, because the GA-N680SLI-DQ6 is like the Striker in price...
 
That board has SLI but "operate at dual 8X when SLI enabled"

To get the most out of my 8800GT i need dual x16 slots SLI, and that comes from nForce 680i boards.
 
Go with either a eVGA 122-CK-NF68 or a Striker Extreme. I own both and have never had a problem.I have four machines.Two have Strikers and to have eVGA boards. Your covered with dual 16x lanes with either board,but the Striker does have better overclocking abilites.With eVGA your mobo has a life time warranty depending on which version you buy.I have two 8800GT KOs running on one of the eVGA boards and two 8800 Ultras running on one of the Striker Extremes. The other two machines are test machines, i work as a reviewer / tester. I also own a shop where i build and sell highend SLI gaming machines.

StrikerExtreme is a good board, but ASUS P5N32-E SLI also The PLUS verion has the same features with alot lower price
the reason Striker is more expensive is that it has some extra features like LCD POSTER and also ASUS calls it a gaming motherboard
 
Aren't they going to come out with a new Nvidia chipset very soon? If so, wait.

Forgot to mention one thing. Just cuz advice is fast, doesn't mean its good 😱
 
And yet, it's what you can get in a short period of time.

Yes, a new chipset is coming out, the 780i. Infact its already being tested. However, i got all the pieces waiting to be assembled at home so no point waiting.
The striker extreme is indeed an excellent board, but its advantages are more than what i need. I won't be going for extreme overclock any time soon, only a moderate one, so the P5N32-E is sufficient.

Get a DFI motherboard...king of overclocking.
 
For some reason the P5N32-E SLI isn't being sold around here anymore.
I got one more dealer im trying with, but im not optimistic about it.

So now comes the question, what should i get?

Came up with 3 options:

1. Buy a P35 board, like the P5K-E, wait for next gen cpu's and mobo's and upgrade. This option cancels the SLI option i might need to run games on the Samsung 226BW. 1658x1050 can/will require 8800GT SLI in some cases.

3. Buy a 650i board, the Asus P5N-E, which is pretty cheap, run SLI, and upgrade later.

2. Buy an expensive striker extreme, even though its a dead-end in terms of future upgrades. Will need to be replaced when new chipsets are out etc.

So what do you guys think?
 
No, 1680x1050 doesnt require SLI, read my SLI/CROSSFIRE FAQ definitely:

I run Crysis with 1680x1050 everthing maxed out +4xAA with no problem

I recommend u getting a P35 board, if u read the FAQ, i have said and explained that SLI doesnt always double the performance and also for resolutions like 1680x1050 or lower, SLI isnt needed
so go for P5K-E (Get the WIFI version if u want to OC,because it has better cooling)
