Need first time pc build advice

So I'm thinking about upgrading my 7 year old PC. It's an old HP that can barely run anything. I've decided that it's finally time to upgrade and decided to move all the old parts to a new case (Phanteks P400S) because my old case was only big enough for a mini ATX mobo. I play games such as CS:GO, and LoL but may plan on getting more graphic intensive games once i upgrade. Anyways I've setup a list of things using PC part picker that I'm going to buy for my new PC. Can yall let me know if its a good setup or if there's anything lacking/overdone?

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600
Motherboard: MSI x370 gaming pro carbon ATX am4 motherboard
    RAM: G.Skill Ripjaw V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 gb) DDR4 3200
Hard drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB
Graphics card: Asus Radeon RX 580 8GB ROG STRIX Video Card
Power supply: EVGA Supernova 750 W 80+ Gold (Already purchased and installed to my own setup)

I plan on getting parts over the next few months as I'm saving some money from each paycheck and just putting it towards this build.

Change the X370 to a B450 motherboard (supports 2nd Gen Ryzen and better memory support). Everything else looks good if your gaming at 1080P or a similar resolution. Using near identical parts and I game on high settings at 75hz (monitors refresh rate).

I have a dual monitor setup and one of the screens is 144 hertz. Would i be able to get past 144 fps on lets say cs:go?

That's easy with CSGO but don't expect a game like AC: Odyssey to run at 144hz.

Sorry I didnt post an ssd, I havent decided on one to use yet. maybe the samsung 850 evo 500 gb. Sorta sucks that i bought a similar one about a year ago but a shop i took my pc to get fixed, "misplaced it"...

US btw

and with windows 10, I think its deactived for me for some unknown reason i cant figure out. maybe it was the shop i took it too, cause all they did was factory reset my pc but added windows 10 to it. I used to have window 7

budgets gonna be around close to $1000-1100 after I add my my ssd or fans I havent added yet to my parts list

If it's Win10 and you tied the key to your Microsoft then during installation your skip the part where it asks for a key and then log into your account when it comes up.

Nowadays having a SSD is a good idea, if your budget is tight then grab the Crucial MX500 500gb as it performs well and is only like $60 or so.

I dont think I ever tied my OS to my microsoft account, I was a really young kid at the time of buying this pc so i didnt know you could do that. I probably have to buy new os I'm assuming :/

Win10, try this: https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/9v8ev3/windows_10_pro_suddenly_not_activated/
Once it is activated, just link it to your Microsoft account and you can activate after a clean install, no new OS purchase, yeah~
for 1200, my take:

Any problems with Seagate 2 TB Hard drive? The Western Digital 1 TB I plan on buying is only like 10 dollars cheaper than your 2 TB one. Should i pay the few extra bucks for it? I don't need it at all but is it worth it?

While the 9600K would get some better FPS I don't think that justifies the extra $150 cost.

I will try to get 144 fps if I can with the monitor. 2600 can not do that in AAA titles.

Worth or not is up to OP, but more fps is preferred for FPS titles imho.
