So I am a highscool student. and I have helped friends build computers before so I know what I am doing. However I am a newby when it comes to pick parts. I have $825 to build a computer. I will need everything including monitor, keyboard, and mouse in that budget.

I am going to use it for gaming, schoolwork, and a little video editing.

If you have a build you have made or if you could make me a parts list that would be awsome. Thanks in advance for your help

R9 280 and FX-6300 are a great combo, especially when you overclock both of them. On that board with that cooler, you should be able to get at least 4.5GHz out of the 6300 - it's a great board for overclocking that processor. Processor itself is great for gaming and it's multicore abilities make it great for video editing.

8GB of 1866 RAM, pretty standard but perfectly usable. You won't need much more for anything but the most extreme multitasking of memory intensive programs.

1TB of quick hard drive, what can I say?

High quality power supply, enough wattage to power your graphics card easily. Also the case has decent cable management space and looks amazing.

1080p monitor, decent response time. Great keyboard, nice mouse as well.

Technically my build is faster, as it has a better GPU. I squeezed in an i5, with an R9 280, without using mail in rebates. ;)

Locked i5's cannot overclock. That requires a k series cpu and a Z97 motherboard. That would take away from the GPU budget.

I think he means for in the future, in case he wants to upgrade to a K series CPU. Also, Z97 boards are better in general - more features, more compatibility. You can get a cheap Z97 board for £60 nowadays.

Also, ignore me and the FX-6300. Almost any i5 will outclass the FX.
