I have just completed wiring my new house and home office with CAT6 and I'm looking for recommendations for gigabit switches. There are 36 CAT6 drops spread out around the house and the office, and now I need to get a 48-port switch or 2 24-port switches.
I'm thinking that 2 24-port switches would be fine, and run cooler and more quietly than a 48-port switch.
I don't think I need anything overly complicated...just stable, reliable devices. I'm thinking of 2 Cisco SG100-24-NA or Cisco SG102-24-NA devices. These seem to get good reviews and are reasonably priced.
Any thoughts on either, or any other recommendations?
Am I correct that I can run a standard patch cable from one switch to the other to connect them?
Thanks in advance!
