Hi Guys,

Over the last few days I upgraded my system moving from an Intel Core2 E6600 system to the following:

1 x AMD HDZ965FBGMBOX 965 Phenom II X4, 3.4GHz, Quad Core , 8MB cache, 125W AM3 black edition
1 x Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P AMD770/SB700 chipset, DDR3 1600, PCI-E 2.0 x16, SATA II RAID, 8-Ch, GbE LAN, ATX
2 x GeIL GV34GB1600C9DC 4G(2G x 2) KIT DDR3 VALUE SERIES C9 1600M
1 x CoolerMaster RC-600-KKRL GLADIATOR BLACK ATX CASE W/ 500W PSU
1 x Sapphire HD5770-1G PCIE HD5770 1G 128Bit GDDR5 PCIE 2*DVI HDMI DSP 40nm DX11

I haven't had the time yet to re-install Windows 7 on this new system, but I am experiencing memory errors within Memtest with settings on SPD.

I will run through tonight and try isolate the issue to determine whether it is a DIMM slot issue or a specific RAM stick issue by testing each individually in different slots in order to find the culprit.

What I wanted to know though beforehand is whether the AM3 must run a specific memory setting for speed (1066mhz or 1333mhz or 16000mhz) as reading through an article on Tomshardware has confused me a little.

Article Link: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/phenom-x4-965,2389-3.html

Quote from article:
"If you're using it on an AM3 platform, you can install DDR3-1333, though it should be noted that only one module per channel works at that frequency. "

Could someone clarify for me any limitations with ram settings for an AM3 system, or what's best recommended for memory settings?

Here is my memtest error:

Many thanks.

Hi Guys,

We can now close this thread. After adjusting the Memory timings to run at 1066mhz with much tighter settings she reported two full passes of Mem Test without any errors. All running OK now.
